While colour can make a dramatic difference to any home, searching through hundreds of swatches to pick out the perfect ones can be a daunting task. Fortunately professional help is at hand. An internationally exhibited artist with specialist expertise in colour theory and colour psychology, Robyn Hammond makes it easy to create the look and mood you want.
Whether working on a simple redecoration job or creating the look for a large new development, Robyn first considers the light, aspect and features of each property. Soft hues can be then be applied to create a tranquil environment, while bolder contrasting colours can be used to build a vibrant energy. Robyn also believes the personality of the owner should show through and often uses a favourite object, artwork or piece of furniture to help set the mood for a room.
In her own Rozelle residence (featured on page 19), Robyn has created a unique family home where each room has its own distinctive feel. In the formal lounge a classic French wallpaper and matching lampshade creates an air of opulence, while in the living room an earthy olive feature wall frames views of the city skyline and helps to create a relaxed atmosphere. Red is a colour known to encourage appetite and a vibrant shade has been applied to the dining room walls, in contrast to the white of the kitchen. The children’s bedrooms have also been given a bright splash of colour, with two incorporating lime feature walls and one featuring the ever-popular Princess pink.
